Matthew Osowski is a composer, arranger, and performer currently based in Stevens Point, WI. Matt’s musical journey began when he was brought to piano lessons as a young man. While this instrument would become his primary composition tool and one he would eventually study in college, neither he or the piano were ready for each other in his formative years. Instead, he branched out into "cooler" instruments like the guitar, bass, and drums so he could start a band with his friends.

Through the rest of high school and into college Matt would continue to realize his potential as a musician, playing on the road with bands, and composing tracks of his own. It was through these early compositions that showed him his true passion in music: creation. And it was this epiphany that led him to the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

In his early days at UWSP, Matt discovered a deep love for jazz, and began studying jazz improvisation under Matt Buchman. He took to it so deeply in fact that he changed his major to jazz bass performance and started to dive in to its rich history. This, coupled with his love of creation, led him to expand his major further into Jazz Composition and reunited him with his first, and eventually. his most fluent instrument: the piano

Throughout his time in college Matt's compositional abilities flourished. He won two composition competitions for symphony orchestra and jazz ensemble respectively and created innovative recitals that would revolve around deep textures and themes. While continuing to study composition under Matt Buchman, and classical composition under Dr. Charles Rochester Young, Matt began to discover a love for narrative within music.

This led his already finely tuned focus to film scoring and to the Pacific Northwest film scoring program in Seattle; started by Emmy-Award winning film and television composer Hummie Mann. During Graduate School, Matt further developed his own voice as a composer and after receiving his Master’s Degree, moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as a freelance composer and performer. Currently, Matt is located in Wisconsin working with clients all over the country as a Film and Television Composer, Music and Audio Producer, Performer, and Educator.

Ultimately Matt believes in the language of music and that it connects us with our innermost being. Through music we have the ability to speak to peoples emotions which can take us to new levels of experience. And experiences, after all, are what life is all about.
